A classic Big Canyon lot, abutting the local golf course, the owner requested a single story home that while modern could also reflect the more traditional neighborhood. A simple T plan was the starting point for the design with one leg of the diagram housing the public spaces of the program while the opposing leg contained the more private functions, bedroom and offices. Where the two legs meet we find a combination of public and private with a small television and wine room. The parti proved to be a useful diagram as it afforded large expanses of glass, and subsequent views to the golf course, as well as a place to locate a pool and small casita. Sectionally the single story approach afforded dramatic gabled spaces throughout, providing volumes rarely able to be achieved in these view oriented associations.
